Thiamine pyrophosphate TPP is a coenzyme involved in the synthesis and cleavage of carbonyl carbon (aldehyde, ketone) in sugar metabolism, especially the decarboxylation of α-keto acid. Thiamine pyrophosphate passes through the N = C active site The carbon atom combines with the α-carbon atom (carbonyl carbon atom) to promote the cleavage of the carboxyl group to release carbon dioxide. |
